Westech Vac Systems was founded in 1978 and was the first Transport Canada Transport Dangerous Goods vacuum truck manufacturers in Alberta. Westech has always been known for its quality, ruggedness, and attention to detail. Through the years, Westech expanded its product offering to trailer vac systems as well as non-code hydrovacs. Westech’s team is comprised of many craftsmen who are extremely passionate about the product and their customers. It is this team that drove Federal Signal Inc (FSS) to acquire Westech Vac Systems in 2016.
After the acquisition, one of Westech’s first projects was to improve its hydrovac design to improve performance, weight distribution, and target a lower price point. After many months of design and fabrication, the Westech Wolf was reintroduced at the 2017 WWETT show in Indianapolis, IN, and was a resounding hit among attendees. The Alberta built design, known for its ruggedness and extreme temperature conditions, was not present with other equipment at the show.
The Westech Wolf offers many advantages, such as its rugged design, handcrafted quality, industrial grade hydraulic and electrical control system, side mounted industrial grade aluminum water tanks which prevent weight shifting front or rearward as with other water tank/debris tank configurations. The Wolf’s water tank and debris tank configurations allow an optimized weight distribution which provides the Westech Wolf with greater legal payload capacities than other comparable units.
The Westech Wolf’s modular design allows it to be easily configured with various axle configurations to meeting the particular market’s need. To date, the Westech Wolf is available in tridem, tandem/tandem, tridrive w/pusher, SPIF 23, and quad axle configurations – each specifically designed for a region. The Westech Wolf’s SPIF 23 became a major hit with the Ontario market as it was the first hydrovac in the area with a SPIF 23 design that adhered to the strict weight requirements in Ontario. The industrial control and unmatched legal payload quickly made Wolf the go-to hydrovac in the area.
Additionally, the Westech Wolf is supported by an unmatched service, support, parts, and warranty network in North America. In Canada, the Wolf is supported by Joe Johnson Equipment, a subsidiary of Federal Signal, Vimar Equipment in B.C., and Fer-Marc Equipment in Saskatchewan. Westech also has authorized partnerships in Fort McMurray, AB, with Hino Central, and in Grand Prairie, AB, with SKL Truck Works. In the US, Westech is supported via Federal Signal’s Environmental Solution Group’s market leading Truvac dealer network. In addition, Federal Signal’s FS Solution’s Group also provides service for Westech.
The Westech team is a talented team of passionate craftsmen skilled in their trade. Their attention to detail and passion is unmatched. The team’s first goal is to ensure its customers have the best product possible and its service is unmatched. The Westech product is a must see in order to truly appreciate the small details.
